john green & taylor swift
I've recently finished john green's new book; Hollywood, ending and I liked it, because it's John Green, but for being his first adult book he still has a YA vibe and I think the book didn't hit me as much because pretentious teenagers are more believable than pretentious adults. Or at least, I care more about them. So I don't know, I gave it 4 stars, but there was an Obstacle between me and fully adoring this book. In the same week, I listened to the new Taylor Swift songs from The Life of a Showgirl encore. And I don't hate the album per se, but we can let the era die? Taylor has always written about her life, about what she knows, and now her life is very Sabrina Carpenter-esque, so it makes sense that her album reflects that, but we already have a Sabrina Carpenter. I also suspect that she released those songs now to distract the public from the whole Ed Sheeran debacle. She's notorious for leaving problematic friends in the past, but I don't think she will extend the same courtesy to Ed. On the other hand, I think that's the way she's helping his cancelled friend. And it might be that she's lowering everyone's standards because she's had enough of the fortune and fame and is ready to have a quieter life. Anyway, I hope she is taking care of herself and releasing music that she genuinely likes, even though the rest of us don't.
